In 2020 Festival Founder and Artistic Director Polo Piatti was commissioned to write a concerto for Cello and Orchestra under the condition that the work should be premiered during the next Festival. Accordingly, this major work was finished in 2021 and will be world-premiered at the Festival's Opening Concert by young virtuoso cellist Tim Posner, together with the International Festival Orchestra under conductor John Andrews.
